about

Padteksty (Subtexts) is an unconventional EP by Vuraj created in collaboration with poets, artists, and translators from Eastern and Central Europe.

The album features the voices of a dozen poets from different countries including Uładzimir Lankievič from Belarus and the legendary Serhiy Zhadan from Ukraine.

Although there are only 5 tracks on the album, you can hear poetry in 7 languages: Belarusian, Polish, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Russian, Czech, and Croatian. Freedom is the main theme of the lyrics. The EP features poems by prominent modern poets: Julia Cimafiejeva (Belarus), Serhiy Zhadan and Halina Petrosanyak (Ukraine), as well as a piece from the classic novel by Bruno Schulz.

Vuraj Warsaw, Poland

Vuraj (pronounced /'vu-rai/) is a Belarusian folk band that blends traditional songs and modern arrangements. The result is a well-balanced mixture of folk, rock, and jazz.

Named 'Heroes of the Year' 2016 for their input in Belarusian music.
